Chuck Corica
The legendary father-son duo of William P. and William F. Bell worked hand-in-hand on many golf courses. But it’s highly unusual to find their creations side-by-side, which is part of what makes Alameda’s Chuck Corica Golf Complex a special place. There’s also today’s three-tiered deal, good for 18 holes, cart and a small bucket of range balls for each player, valid on either course (Earl Fry or Jack Clark), any time Monday through Friday, and after 12:00 p.m. weekends/holidays, until March 31, 2013:
William F. Bell added his signature to the property in 1957. The 6,586-yard Jack Clark Course is more forgiving off the tee and features a sterling rendition of the short par 4. The eighth hole, just 321 yards, doglegs over a pair of cross bunkers and presents a long menu of options for attacking the shallow green. In short, it’s brilliant.
Conditions at Chuck Corica are on the upswing under new management by Greenway Golf, operators of the much-praised Stevinson Ranch GC. The layouts have always been first-rate—I say pick up two deals and ring both Bells in one place.
