Location Sunset Golf Club
The nine-hole layout has been a local mainstay, welcoming families, beginners and serious golfers to its wildlife-friendly confines; hawks, beavers and even bobcats are regular interlopers on Sunset’s inviting fairways. Played twice to total 18 holes, the course measures anywhere from 4,782 to 6,590 yards, with a final flourish courtesy of a pond that guards the last two greens.
Flashy finish aside, Sunset Golf Club is a down-to-earth place with a heart as big as Texas—or at least the size of your Deal Caddy’s discount.

Technically speaking, Sunset is a brother-and-sister enterprise. PGA TOUR pro C.B. Mims built the course in 1953 and managed it until he passed away in 1992. In stepped his sister, Bettye Mims Danoff, a founding member of the LPGA Tour. The Mims family runs Sunset to this day.
