Golfers will go out of their way for a great value—unless they don’t have to. Match good golf with fair prices and location, location, location, and the tee sheet will fill up faster than you can yell, “Fore!” Northcliffe GC isn’t exactly Grand Central Station, but more and more golfers are discovering this not-so-hidden gem bordering I-35 in Cibolo. Here’s your chance to try it for even less than the always-low rates—up to 48% less, in fact—by paying just $22 for 18 holes with cart. Redeem any time Monday through Friday, or weekends after 10:00 a.m., until April 30.
Northcliffe has endured some bad luck over the years, but it always had an ace up its sleeve: a terrific layout. Now that the course’s fortunes have turned for the better, Joe Finger’s links-flavored design may finally be getting its due. The esteemed architect marked his turf with several standout holes, including a grand finale on 17 and 18. Earlier on, No. 6 (the hole you see from the freeway) offers one of the area’s most memorable par 5s. It’s a dip-and-climb doozy that takes a late left turn around a green-protecting pond, creating pure risk-reward bliss.
Northcliffe is vulnerable in spots to big hitters, who salivate over its 6,532-yard maxed-out length. Strategists get plenty of opportunities, too, especially on the clever par 5s. Like any well-plotted track, Finger’s composition will reject erratic ballstrikers and surrender good scores to golfers patient enough to earn them.
If you’ve been waiting for a top-notch golf value to spring up nearby, maybe it’s right under your nose. And from the looks of things, Northcliffe is here to stay.
